We've seen -16 (in C) just last Tuesday and a string of three consecutive single digit temperatures. The last time we had even one was in 2009 and before that.....1990.

According to an article I read today, there has never been a winter in Minneapolis without at least one day below zero F.

And December so far has been colder than normal with 3 days so far where the high was single digits F.

Never. Ever. It did snow once--a dusting that lasted ever so briefly, in 2004. First time that ever happened since records were kept here. It's actually been in the 40s-50s here the past couple of weeks, & we are [b]freezing[b]!

Once every couple of years, with the most recent being in 2011 when it dropped to 9F.

Not here, it went down to 12F this January, and last year's lowest minimum was 14F.

Really, we clocked a minimum of 7.4 F that night and 9.3 F the other 2 nights . Does UHI have such an enormous effect.

I don't have an exact number for Duluth, but from December 9th to February 27th the average low is below 10F. In fact, it has not exceeded 10F since December 5th. The latest date last spring for the temperature to fall under 10F was April 14th (8F), and on April 20th it got down to 11F.

Last time it occured downtown was in 1989, but out here away from the UHI, it probably occurs more often. I recorded 12°F last weekend during our cold snap. The airport got 19°.

It"s going to be minus 35 Celsius with the wind chill here tonight. I won't bother to convert it to Farenheit. When it's that cold, it really doesn't matter, as it's about the same,.
