There it is...

The lowest point in the entire Northern Hemisphere of -25°C & -20°C temps at 850mb is currently in Tennessee and Mississippi.

I've been watching this happen since November, each one with a further push south and never happening in Europe. But this has to be the bottom point now. I can't imaging those temps going south more.

Then again... I did say that in December with the -10°C line which is currently near the Gulf coast!

Atmospheric Soundings

This mornings Sounding from the 12z launch in Jackson, MS and Little Rock, AR. The 2000' level was colder than the 5000 foot level and surface.

They'll be fine, except any coconut palms, which aren't a common sight in Orlando.

"Freezing? Look up, this is why. Image Shows Entry of the Polar Vortex into the Northern U.S"

What IS a polar vortex? In simple terms it's a displaced piece of the atmosphere from the pole that moves in a certain direction

Couldn't rep you more, very cool image.

Very neat to see the lake effect snow over MI. Sunny here in Chicago now, and very, very cold.
