I though it would be in either one of those summers. Why is it so difficult to find reliable temperature records for UK stations? You would think that the Met Office would have them, but I didn't see them there. Tutiempo doesn't seem to have that station either.... I checked meteociel and they only go back to 2006. I checked wunderground and when I type in Waterlooville, that site shoots me over to South Hampton, and states that the max for August 2003 was only 33C there?

Closer to home, I've been told by a view people that Horndeen, right next to Waterlooville, broke 37 degrees on August the 10th 2003... Think this was on the news at the time also, but can't find it at the mo...
Oh and I agree... The Met Office is poor when it comes to local records!
There isn't a Met Office weather station in Waterlooville, it is a suburb inland of Portsmouth, so I guess he is using his own reading. On that same day in my Mum's garden in nearby Horndean it reached 37C also & the Met Office station at Southsea recorded 35C & nearby Thorney Island 35.2C...

Ah, ok. Forget about it then. ONLY OFFICIAL MET INSTITUTE READINGS.

Otherwise in my "metro area",
warmest: 35.0C on 11 July 2010.
Well he can pick the 35.0C at Southsea or the 35.2C at Thorney Island then, both coastal stations. The next nearest station inland to Waterlooville is possibly Alice Holt Lodge which is a fair way inland, near Farnham...
