A couple more days until we exit solar winter (the three darkest months, centered on winter solstice).
One month until spring begins! (One month and 21 days according to the retarded definition used by some countries including mine).
The pain of winter is almost over actually, my 3 hated months (Nov-Dec-Jan) are now over so that's great
Yes, the three darkest and gloomiest calendar months have been and gone, so given we have had little else to characterise winter this year other than dark and gloom it feels like we have turned the corner a little towards spring. The sun might be going down at 4.49pm today, but 5pm darkness is no longer.
Plus, it's actually sunny this morning. When you don't see it for long periods at this time of year you notice how much higher in the sky it is now than the last time you saw it. It looks so bright and yellow

Ugh. That's terrible. That's earlier than in late December here. 5.42pm today, though we have about the same sunrise time. I couldn't stand being on your time zone. Early sunsets might be what I loathe the most in terms of weather. Anything before 5pm is disgusting to me, so I have no idea how I could cope with your 3.45pm sunsets in December
We will cross the psychological threshold of 6pm sunsets in about 2 weeks
promising long term forecast for northern europe. if this spring and summer turns out to be as ****ty as this winter has been, i'm going to get seriously pissed.
I put this in the winter thread but I guess it belongs here??? Forecast for Edmonton, first few days of "spring".
