Why just not fixed to GMT-0:30 now? Like newfounlanders. Mac15 maybe agree
Maritime ASEAN (Ind, Sing, Mal, Phil, E. Timor, Brun) timezones is somewhat similar to europe, except different latitude and ahead 7 hours (6 in europe DST). It Has 3 timezones. Sing. and Mal. are like Spain and france - geographically sits on time zone 1 hour behind. Sumatra and Java are like Ireland and England. The NW sumatra still use Java's. As a results Aceh is 10 deg west of its timezone meridian (just like in Westernmost ireland). Londonderry is similar to Medan with about 7-8 deg west of timezone meridian. While Dublin historically was on UTC-0:25 (-25 mins of current time), Padang was similar : UTC+6:33 (-27 mins of current time)
And the issue of unification of timezone to UTC+8 similar to UK--->CET issue
I think I must move to UTC+6.30, and the extreme NW to UTC+6

It's 1:29 hours for londonderry. With a minimum equation of summer equation of time in late July, (-6.5) it means 35.5 minutes past 1pm for latest solar noons in londonderry (late July).
So your local time is GMT-0:29 which can be rounded to GMT-0:30
What's your opinion to the issue that UK will be moved to CET? It means youre 2.5 hours in summer offset which is TOO EXTREME!!!
Also if the UK moved to CET, what happen to the "SI" of the Timezones (international standards?) the solar noon formula becomes 13 + TZ - Long/15 - Equation of time rather than 12 + ....
And will the clock become 01.00-2459? Day changes in 01:00. 12am means 12:00 not 00:00 because the am/pm boundary will be 13:00. Noon means 13:00. Midnight means 01:00. Maybe the clock dials become 1 on the top
(I assume that, because the 0° is in london (greenwich exactly), and if the standard time is GMT+1, what happen to GMT standards it maybe what I assume. Just IMO.)

Well if they do that I think Ireland will have to make our own timezone because it won't work.
I would prefer if we were on gmt all year like Iceland.
Checking the weather in those brazilian cities where the WC 2014 is played, i noticed that the northeastern corner of Brazil also has very early sunset times.
Personally I think Britain should be on BST (UT+1) all year round, without changing the clocks twice a year. That would keep summer sunsets as they are but shift them to more sociable times in the winter. Id rather have it dark at 9am than 4pm, if I had to choose.
Even as it stands, Britain (and the EU) makes one big mistake, the clocks go forward at least a month too late. In late October when they go back the sun is well south of the equator, and days last about 10 hours here. The same situation arises in mid February, yet we don't move them forward till the end of March by which time the sun is rising before 6am.
It would be dark to 10 here though and 10:20 in Scotland.
