Nice Sunday morning drive south to family in Southern New York (New Rochelle) about 30 minutes from NYC.
This is in Connecticut on Merritt Parkway. The way roads are supposed to look (EMPTY!) LOL
Down in New Rochelle right on the water this is a park I grew up near. That bridge on the right leads to a small island you can walk around on. This is 5 Island Park, New Rochelle, NY
This is on Main Street/Route 1 heading towards downtown New Rochelle.. That thing sticking up is thanks to Donald Trump..
Back in CT took I-95 to come back up. That thing sticking up is in downtown Stamford thanks to Donald Trump. Except Stamford denied his request to build 400 feet and they said 350 was the max limit. Gotta love CT for that.

Can't remember the Merritt like that except late at night.

New Rochelle seems nice, that skyscraper looks kinda cool. Don't see much difference in 400 or 350 feet, if they're going to build something tall, what's wrong with letting it go even taller?

In an area where there aren't tall buildings around and the tallest is under 300 feet, that 350 foot building sticks out like a sore thumb.
An extra 50 feet is 5 more stories then it is.
We have a natural beauty mentality here and hope it stays like that, but you get guys like this Donald guy and changes things. My town the height restriction is 190 feet. Still too high IMO (for this area)
New Rochelle wasn't like NYC when I grew up, it was suburb all around with many trees and better people and safer.. but things changed so much that in many ways it resembles NYC now. So maybe that's the Stamford vision too.
