Vancouver January 2014

Vancouver Harbour

Vancouver International Airport

It felt a lot drier than it actually ended up being mainly due to the much lower number of precipitation days. The actual final precipitation total was only a little lower than normal. Temps were slightly above normal too for the month.

In reality, it could have been much worse. An cold, icy month would have been worse given my preferences.

Hawt. Nothing better than cold rain and low sunshine.

It was better than December 2010 in spades. Most of the rain fell at night, and the worst of the rain was during the colder than average weather at the end.

It wasn't a particularly mild month, only slightly milder than average so fairly normal on that front.

Well, I preferred December 2010 for obvious reasons. But I would appreciate a dry and sunny month.

The average daily maximum was close to the 81-10 average, but the average minimum was quite a bit higher.

Vernon, BC:

Coldest temperature = -12.9 C (9F)
Warmest temperature = 9.8 C (50F)

Average high = 0.9 C
Average low = -3.8 C
Average mean = -1.4 C

37 hours of sunshine, but 13 days without any. 20% of the month's sunshine came on the last day of the month.
25 mm of precipitation (~ 1 inch)

The month was warmer and drier than normal, but nothing extraordinary.
