What's scary to me is many of the coldest years and months on record for the upper Peninsula in Michigan happened in the 2000s with 2014 being their coldest year on record. Scary fact to me. Only 1 month that year was the record coldest though and that was November.

I prefer a slightly more populated place, like Manitowish Waters or Boulder Junction, WI. More moderate snowfall compared to Copper Harbor, but higher elevation with somewhat colder lower temperatures, slightly removed from the nearby influence of Lake Superior- yet not entirely out of the Snowbelt.

I lived in Wisconsin during the 2014 winter, plenty of snow and cold, (that was the year that I made a trip to northern Wisconsin and the low temperature was below -30F in March!).

Yikes, too much cold lol. In March too, I want spring and 60s not -30! Bet you miss living up there, winters are infinitely better for a cold lover like you in Wisconsin versus southern Indiana. I would like to experience a year in an actual hard core winter climate during a colder than normal year.

Early March saw some hardcore cold in 2014. Winnipeg on March 1 had a high of -14 F and a low of -32 F!

In March 2014, Rochester set its record low for March by falling to -9 F.

I much prefer the cold, this summer has been nearly intolerable in my area with too many lows in the mid 70s and warmer, partially because of the UHI. You get acclimated to the colder temperatures fairly quickly, as long as the wind is at a manageable speed. I'm headed to northern Maine next month to escape the heat and humidity again.

February and March 2014 were fairly epic for cold and snow lovers in the Upper Midwest. The UP of Michigan set some low temperature records during that period, and Marquette, MI region had snow depth of over four feet (compacted).

Kigomo is like an unending Sydney summer. It's probably more humid, but the lows seem relatively cool for its equatorial position. I'll go with Kigomo anyway, because it isn't that terrible.

Someone said Copper Harbor is near subarctic... Check September values first hehe... 14.6 C as mean for the fourth warmest month. Having said that, it'd certainly feel like it. I'm no fan of the tropics because of getting no rest from the constant heat, so if I have to choose it'd be very tight because Copper Harbor, because summers would feel like home (south Sweden) and winters not being harsher than a bad winter at home. Also, I wouldn't live in Africa even if someone paid me... But man, 'em winters there :/

Also I am white... I don't want to get skin cancer. It's a few degrees to hot year-round to be able to be out in the sun. July at 29? Sure! December at 26? Not cool for white folks. Canary Island Range of 21-27 much better if so.
