The lowest temperature of the year will be tomorrow. Maybe 5 or 6ºC if we have good conditions tonight. It will be the lowest temperature since October.

Many of the models are showing close to 100mm of rain here over the next week. I'll believe it when I see it. Probably will be lucky to even get 25mm. Even then, it would still be the highest rainfall since late January.

Nice little thunderstorm today which I watched from my office window. This came with a brief but heavy rainfall bringing nearly 10 mm.

A definite Autumn look now, with a bit of color starting to show through, and a duller light.

Some photos from on the way to work yesterday.

First cold front of the season moving through today, 1-3mm of rain expected. Currently 22C and overcast, much cooler weather for the next few days with temperatures in the low 20's. Definitely have switched into autumn mode now.

Despite my pessimism earlier, Dalby ended up getting about 160mm last week. Believe it or not, there was even a rare thunderstorm on one day. On Thursday night it poured down, with a total of 99.4mm in the 24 hours to 9am, including over 50mm in 3 hours. On the other side of town, a station recorded 102mm, the first triple digit rainfall total this town has seen in about 6 years.

I'm very happy with that result and I'm sure all the plants are as well - it looked like a desert before this rain. Unfortunately western Queensland, which has been suffering from drought for the longest, missed out on this rain and there's nothing significant in the forecasts.

Cicada season is giving way to cricket season.

Crickets are a pleasant sound when drifting off to sleep.

Overnight low was 21.7C. Last day of summer before we descent into an endless gamut of cold southerly tripe, with absolutely no end in sight according to the forecast models.
