Odessa- Kharkiv and Odessa, both have a longer, and hotter warm season, which Moscow doesn't have.
Yeah. Actually, its question is mostly about what cares you more in a climate - winter or summer (Kharkiv has more similar summers to Odessa and more similar winters to Moscow).
So you judge places on how comparable winters feel, rather than summers (or the rest of the year)?
No, summers are a bit more important than winters to me (when two climates are still comparable and located in the same hardiness zone), but here the first thing I notice is that Moscow and Kharkiv have cold winters. Kharkiv's summers are still not that warm to me, despite the continentality.
Odessa is still quite cold in winter but more similar to eastern Germany or Hungary, it's notable sunnier and I guess it has sea breezes that moderate spring and summer temperature, which Kharkiv sure hasn't.
What's Kharkiv's hottest and coldest average/max/min on record?
I doubt that Odessa has ever seen a month as hot as July 2010 in Moscow.
^^
Incredible for 56N latitude
