California has such bone dry summers that downtown L.A's all time record for the most rain in the entire month of July was under a quarter of an inch and the average is 0.01.
Melbourne has a mild, oceanic climate which has recorded flurries and a trace of snow accumulation on a very rare occasion but they haven't ever gotten close to an inch I believe. Melbourne - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
So which is more likely in July?
A) An inch of rain in one day in downtown Los Angeles.
B) An inch of snow accumulation in Melbourne at the city weather station (not outlying suburbs)

the only possible way for an inch of rain in LA is if the south west monsoon could go far west enough to the coast which would be an extraordinary circumstance
Inch of rain in LA. Would be funny to see all those pampered Hollywood gals complain "UGH, The nasty humidity" in summer on breaking the first sweat . While we New Yorkers laugh and endure oppressive humidity with great effort.
Melbourne, 6.0 C / 42.8 F average low in July. Just 5 C / 9 F cooler and there could be snow. What keeps it from snowing near record low temperatures?
