I was just reading about the ancient Chinese calendar dividing the year into 24 seasonal terms, with some of these seasonal terms having names like "Waking of insects" or "Descent of frost" that reflected their climate.
It looks like whoever developed these terms lived in a temperate or continental climate, based on what words they chose.
It does not even match the climate of Beijing.
Feb of Beijing is cold as hell, and there're definitely much more chances to see snow than rain (though neither is common).
