I live in NC and it gets to a million degrees here in the summer. I can't fathom how anybody decided to settle here. I could just imagine that buggy ride. I would be the one screaming bloody murder because it's too hot! It's fun since we have a pool in our subdivision. Otherwise, I would have sponteously combusted already. ;-)
Ok I see, you use the most recent 30 years, but not the 1981-2010 base period. Even so, the entire period of record for LGA is 17 (since 1948).
Interesting I looked at MDW's 1931-1960 base period and see that the average number of 90F+ days was 26 which reflects the Dust Bowl heat waves of the 1930's and also the several hot summers of the 1950's

Also depends on how far above 90 it is. For example, my city averages about 200 days a year above 90 but usually it is only 92 or 93. Days above 95 are incredibly rare. Doesn't happen every year. So it isn't that bad. Like I said earlier, it's always hot but never too hot.

Great point!
Bridgeport average amount of days above 95F is 1. LOL
Not to forget that it feels like above 95 probably over 15 times a year.

I don't know if I've ever experienced above 95; it's incredibly rare here. But the heat index goes up to 95 often. With a dewpoint of 75-77 for about 9 months a year, only a temperature of 85 is needed to bunp the index to 95 and that happens almost everyday.

Here, we can vary from upper 80's F to upper 50's F overnight if a cold front moves through .
The good thing is the evenings always cool off to upper 50s or low 60s, light wind, low humidity.
We average 1 day in the 100s in July. Since I live about 800 feet above Denver, the number is more like 20 where I live.
