Easterlies/SE gives the happy combination of the Scandinavian Mountains /Kjølen mts stopping all the clouds so looong sunny days in Northern Norway, and the continental air from E/SE is often warm in summer, so this adds up.
Four stations N of the Arctic Circle above 25C today, Bardufoss warmest.
Evenes / Harstad Narvik Airport 25.1C. Tromsø - Stakkevollan made it to 24.6C. Even the coastal town of Sortland on Vesterålen islands made it to 24.5C, Leknes in Lofoten 23.5C.
Still far from June records (Tromsø 29.5C) but it is early in the month.
Further south, high of 21.3C today here and mostly sunny.
Looks like the end is finally here for the Kilpisjärvi snow pack, still 15 cm of snow left but it's 14C and sunny with a high of 19C predicted for later on.
Not really. It was 28 or 29C the first time I was in Bardufoss. Northern Norway can get some very warm temperatures this time of year.
seems although the averages are very cool as you'd expect the highs reach some respectable figures - looks like 31 is the all time high .
