Last winter was the warmest in Athens in 80 years and also the driest in more than a decade, according to the National Observatory.
The average temperature from December 2015 to February 2016 was 12.1 degrees Celsius (53.8 Fahrenheit) while the average top temperature during that three-month period was 16.3 C (61.3 F).
The last time Athens had such a mild winter was in 1936 with an average temperature of 12.4 C (54.3 F) and an average top temperature of 16.5 C (61.7 F).
Last winter was also very dry with just 38 centimeters of rain falling in Athens from December 2015 through February 2016.
The last time that three-month period was so dry was in 1990 when Athens got 37.6 cm of rain
George, you seem to be constantly trying to suggest that there is some kind of doomsday scenario about to happen in the UK with regards to the weather? For the last 2 or 3 months you keep constantly posting forecasts of some kind of cold approaching, why is this? For the record March and April have been somewhat cool but its hardly been catastrophic (or even particularly unusual), overall the winter was pretty standard fair, no snow, bit of rain and wind, I am still waiting for the arctic cold both you and the Daily Mail keep promising me. Is there something you are trying to tell us here?
Warm over Italy. I may get the first 30C° this afternoon, temps at the nearest weather station are 27C° at 11:00 A.M. and an impressive 29C° in Bari further South. We could break the April record if temps keep warming up as they have done in the past two weeks

We are a little bit the unlucky ones this time. In here it is raining and the temperature is 12°C (18°C in Turin, it is probably sunnier than here over there).
I don't have all the weather data for this year because the Arpa Piemonte doens't publish them constantly. I can see which is the temperature right now on the "real time weather page", but I can't see the measures of last week for example (that's really annoying, they update their archives just twice a year and I have to wait until July for it...)
Anyway there are the measures from the Turin airport weather station (Torino Caselle) which are easily available because they are the ones used for the weather forecasts, and in that station the highest temperature recorded in 2016 has been 22°C.

We've recorded 28,1C° yesterday already (the regional weather station) and the temp is 29,7C° now. We're so close to breaking that 30C° wall. Nearby Foggia has already broken it
