Yes but when typhoons slam in the Asian mainland, that usually is a warm teleconnection for North America

I want to know what station they are using for London or if they are using a POR instead of the 1981-2010 base period
Cooler Atlantic air to stifle heat across the UK in September

Quote:
The normal high temperature in London ranges from 19.4 C (67 F) at the beginning of the month to 16.1 C (61 F) at the end of the month. Normal high temperatures in Manchester fall from 18.9 C (66 F) to 15.6 (60 F) by month's end.

They aren't using any station, seems like they just made it up. Last week they were saying the average high for August was 20.6c! No part of London has ever averaged that cold in August, in any average period.

Heathrow ranges from 22c at the start of September to 18c at the end of the month. I'm not sure how they can claim the start of September averages 19.4c, when most stations in London average 19.9-20.0c for the entire month! Seriously, how difficult is it to look up the actual stats from the relevant country's Met Office? It's almost as bad as those travel guides that tell tourists in London to bring coats, umbrellas and rain boots, but sunglasses, tshirts and shorts to Paris! There is no notable difference in rainfall or sunshine between London and Paris.

Their forecast is also completely different to most others, which are calling for a settled September.

They just can't be making it up. They must be using some sort of data. I'm going to comment on that tweet and see if I get a response from them.

The only place it could be is Hampstead, from 1961-1990, but even then it is still too cool.

Anythig else and you should call them out on it. In fact every time they post anything regarding UK forecasts, they always, without fail, get our averages wrong!

I sent a tweet asking them where they were getting this data, and stated that Heathrow averages 19.9C in Sept. Let's see if I get a response back.

Also you are right about their Sept outlook being an outlier.... Just checked, the GEFS, GEPS, and the CFSv2 and none of the models show any cool conditions over the UK for at least the 6-10 and 11-15 day periods

I don't know if they are forecast that extra tropical low to bring about a pattern change that the models aren't picking up yet or if they are using the EC (not sure what that is showing right now).

They said our summer would be devoid of any warmth and would generally be much cooler, cloudier and wetter than normal. The summer will end up slightly above normal, with average rainfall and well below average sun.

I ignore everything they say, and only ever post their stuff to show how inaccurate and crap they are.

This is what they showed for Europe

Quote:
Frontal boundaries accompanying the depressions will sweep through the U.K. and Ireland, ending any warmth and resulting in seasonable temperatures for much of the summer months.

They did OK with their summer forecast for the US, showing much of the country warmer than normal, but their precip forecast was way off.
