Why are you more prone to static electricity in dry places? When I was in Tokyo this January I got struck on a daily basis (twice or thrice if unlucky) while in Tangerang, I haven't got one in years.

Just curious about the mechanism.

I think because the water vapor in the air will get the electricity, and since you were in a dry environment, the electricity is stuck to you? I'm pretty ignorant about this, though.
