This is turning out to be one of the worst July months ever. What a nightmare.




As of yesterday the average max at MDW is 81.4F/27.4C.

You are suggesting that there aren't dramatic swings out east which is true.

I'd much rather move a little west (like Nebraska or South Dakota). Philly does have better summer averages than Chicago as it's a bit further south (so a C+), but thunderstorms are generally lame in your region compared to here. When we do get hot summers, they tend to be more extreme than Philly or certainly NYC which is at our latitude. Plus, I'd also be giving up decent winters.


Btw, what was the hottest month on record in Philly (max and mean)?
