Wow that is a great way of thinking about that!!! Never thought about that comparison before!

Open days of summer look promising

Notice lakeshore counties around Lake Michigan have positive anomalies but not as high as more inland areas thanks to the very cool lake waters

Shelf Cloud over Norman Oklahoma this morning.

I will NEVER EVER witness this around here because of the trees, hills & structures. I love seeing how flat areas are in the plains , ect . You're line of sight is like 1000x more then you'll find around here.

I know someone (20 something yrs old) who is a meteo in CT. He actually gave up his job with a news station to go chasing... Guess where... in the plains. Only goes when there are storms. He said it's such a different view you actually can see the whole storm. lol

There must be some open spaces around you. A field, top of a hillside, maybe. Some open space near me:

A college friend of mine is going to grad school (PhD) in meteorology at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, OK. Doesn't sound like a prestigious school but for meteorology, especially on storms, it has one of the best programs in the country.

very beautiful!! I'm not used to see such long/perfect plains, the few plains we have Portugal are still kind of bumpy.
What river is that?

Interesting, I'm guessing next week might be above average. Surprised at the coast, I'm guessing it was cool and cloudy a bunch of the time? It feels like summer started on schedule right around June 1. The warmer lows make it feel like summer. Once the morning aren't chilly most days, it's summer. High 50s or 60°F at sunrise = summer. Also getting high 70s and hotter more frequently now. A lot of flowers are gone. Like this one:

and these:

still lots of flowers out, but less colorless than earlier.

I was saying the same thing to myself this morning. The colors of spring are fading away. Lilacs, azealeas, rhododendrums, ect. Just the green of summer now.

For an open view I would have to drive many miles away but they are still sporatic. Being I don't live near the valley its very hard to find open flat areas. I started writing them down once but they were few and far in between it just didn't make sense to waste gas driving there and waiting. That's the other thing.. you might find a spot but you can't move from there otherwise the view gets obstructed.

I would love to set up a camera on top of a hill and see what I capture. Just don't trust the camera up there with kids hiking on the hills.
