Looks like the current 48"(4 feet) of snow on Mt Mansfield, VT is above average for this time of year. http://www.uvm.edu/skivt-l/?Page=depths.php

North Cascades highway in Washington State finally opened this week (May 8th) after being closed all winter. Still a good amount of snow on the ground in many spots in the Cascades of Oregon, and Washington, and coast ranges of BC of course.

Picture below posted by Washington State Dept. of Transportation.

Is that really early? 2011 was much later, from what I remember.

snowpack in Cascades north of Oregon are about 107 percent of normal right now. I do think that Hwy 20 (North Cascades Highway) usually opens slightly later (sometime around May 15th).

On April 27th, 2014 snowpack at Paradise Mt. Rainier reached its maximum depth for the season at 200 inches.

We have had a glut of cool springs over the last few years, so there have been some late openings lately. As a matter of fact, May is one of only two months that has decreased in temperature since 1900 (December is the other one).

The snowpack is below average west of the Cascades, but above normal east of the Cascades. Here is BC map.

We still have snow, but a lot less than a week ago.

This is the main road at about 7000'. Just a few weeks ago the snow banks were much higher than my truck, now they're pretty small.
