Such days are not too unusual in Mid June too, we even have a name for this very regular occurence: "Schafskälte" or literally "sheep's cold".
It has its name because it often occurs after the sheep shearing for the summer and since the nights during such cold weather can be still close to freezing during clear nights in the interior parts of Germany.
