You do get them here.. there just aren't too many of them normally. It is probably not helped that it has been fairly warm recently and it rained the other day.. it's been a perfect breeding ground for them..
I just got into bed and there's another one in my room.. they are so annoying.. that high pitch buzz they make is deafening

I lived near London for 12 years and never once encountered a mosquito. First time I encountered them was on holiday in Rochechouart, Limousin, France.

Of course there are mosquitoes in London.. they are in the UK pretty widely, although not as much as hotter countries of course They are actually a big problem on the London Underground.

Probably not in NI, it's too cold there, especially with that big hill behind your house with a snowpack scaring them away
