A guy I work with is from Margate, and he said it's horrible. I'm in Gillingham/Chatham at the moment, and it's pretty grim. He's in the Army here though, and we haven't seen them for a while so it's no big deal.
We're going to give Canterbury or Rochester a visit tomorrow.

Nice places.

One of my relatives lives in that huge Margate eyesore building some 20 stories high. Looks pretty hideous from the outside but nice views from the inside.

Sepp Blatter is a corrupt crook and I cannot wait for him to be ousted from FIFA.

I haven't been to Margate before, but I was told that it used to be quite nice 20 or 30 years ago. Apparently it's really run down though now, and has a major problem with immigrants there. My mate recommended Rochester, but I'd quite like to visit Canterbury too. We might do both, and I'll post a few photos if we do.

At least the weather has been nice since we got here yesterday. It was 21C and sunny then, and today has been mostly sunny, but cooler.

I did get my car washed inside and out, tyres painted etc, for just £5 though! They certainly know how to wash a car.
Kent is very nice, no worse than North Yorkshire. Sevenoaks, Canterbury, Maidstone - lots more.

Rochester and the estuary/medway towns - not nice. Thanet and the coast is bad too. In fact the south coast is quite crap bar Brighton.

No worse than north Yorks? Please find me anywhere in North Yorks comparable to Chatham or Gillingham. They make Yeovil look nice.
North Yorkshire is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and unspoilt counties in the country.
The countryside is nice though, and I'm sure there are nice places around, just not where I am.

Middlesbrough, for a start. Some of the towns around Selby are pretty bleh too. Kent is much wealthier than North Yorkshire. Gillingham and Chatham are just grotty medway towns. For every Chatham there's three Tunbridge Wells'.

True. Margate & Atlantic city are just seaside ghettos marred by unemployment.

Frankston in Melbourne sounds like these places too. By the sea, lower class and has a lot of immigrants.

There are too many ghettos in NJ, and the territory keeps expanding .
