I left RAF Wittering at about 12, and the temperature was around 29C. Just got to Leeds and its miserable and 18C.

Just my luck.

And I left bed after a 3 hour sleep because I seen gruesome pics of that crash and couldn't sleep.

Headed for waterpark now so happy, if my sister can get off her arse.

The reason why this "warm spell" of below average crap has been so poor "ooop nuuurth" and west is because, looking at the satellite pictures, we are simply too close to the low, and there is a ton of cloud spinning around it covering the west midlands, wales, and northern england.

The UK just can't help but be a low pressure magnet.

This happens a lot.. if the low was 100 miles west then most of the country would be warm as well

Happens too damn often. The UK just doesn't have a big enough land area to get real heating to burn cloud off or stop lows coming inland.

If u think about it, our island nation is a bloody stupid shape. I have often wished we could fill in the north sea and also join our island to the continent, then it would get far more reliable warm summers.

I've always been in favour of buildingn huge artificial mountains in the west to stop low pressure approaching.. or just filling out some of the Atlantic so that our summers are better.. surely our tax money would be better served in doing that lol

Artificial mountains sounds like a great idea!
