At least the forecast looks decent.. sunny spells and temps in the low 20s. Just hope we don't get the dreaded NW/SE split which seems to rear its ugly head every year (last year it was September).
It's also funny how quickly you acclimatise.. I was getting used to temps in the high 20s, and they felt warm rather than hot to me. Now it feels cold. Hope my tan doesn't disappear.
1. They are very forward aka not scared of being nasty or loud to your face.
2. Children aren't acknowledged.
3. They treat 18 year olds like children. (Multiple times now I have been called "tha Chald".
4. A 4 in mens hair cut literally means a skinhead wereas in Ireland/UK it means very little hair cut off.
After being treated like a child and given a skinhead haircut I am ready to get the hell home! No more!! Too much culture shock
1. My wife complained about the same thing, and even scolded me before at McD's for being "too confrontational" when they messed my order up. She just said to eat it, grumble and complain under your breath, and just walk out.
2. Agree. Most areas of the US still operate under the "children are to be seen, not heard" principle. My family was the same way
3. You're that child until you're 21, and that kid until you are 30 or married with/without children in your 20s. Same in my family too, you don't grow up and mature until you have a wedding ring on your left hand.
Well, I did always say that the UK and the US only have language in common, and even that is different. We are two very different countries despite having a common language. My wife found out for herself, I found out for myself, and now you did. Judging from what I read on British expat forums, the country with the least culture shock to Brits is New Zealand, followed by Australia.
But I don't like the loudness.. Yesterday the hairdresser was so rude!! she kept saying "keep your head up! , keep your head up!" in a loud nasty tone.
It reminds me on my dads family as they are always saying that we are to be seen and not heard lol. I have learn't so much more on this holiday than the last one!! Maybe its just Florida idk..
But west palm beach wasn't like this at all! People there were nice and actually treated me like a human being.

Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way.
Confrontational might be a regional thing, too. Midwest is less so than the Northeast, especially the urban parts.
