This weather's awful. I'd rather have 39°C because it's already getting cold in my flat. Bugger this. I would find Augusts like this too cold for winter let alone summer. Another 9 months of freezing indoor conditions before the next two week summer... counting down the days.

It is actually cold at nights now.. my dad put the heating on the other night, ridiculous and the earliest we have ever had it on. Usually we start putting it on in October, at uni I can get away with November as I am more cold tolerant than my family

In the day, it has been around 20C... we have had a few of our first sub 20C max temps since June though, with some of the last few days reaching just 19C.. we also had a few 8.5C lows, and one as low as 7.6C the other night.. 4 days in the last week had single figure minima, whereas the last ones before that were in early June.

That 7.6C low felt freezing, and was the night we had heating on for a bit.. I think that is pretty close to our record low for August, it is certainly the coldest low I can remember in August in my lifetime

Here, the past 2 weeks have been awful. We are running wetter than average, duller than average and cooler than average after the above average first week.

This shows how this month has deteriorated after the first week.. after June and July this month will turn out very poor

I just worked out that this summer is overall cooler than 2010 was here, but slightly sunnier. So this August has wrecked it really. What a shame.

We had a good July and June, this August will turn out about 2C below average though because the first week was warmer than average..

Just saw the weather on BBC1, the forecaster is an idiot.. once again calling a mostly sunny day on Wednesday with highs of 17C in northern England as 'pleasant'
