I don't know. What's even worse is when people say vaccines cause autism. Then complain when there's an outbreak of measles.

Exactly, it loses the proper meaning of what the condition is and gives people a false impression or stereotype of it so that those who have a genuine diagnosis (such as myself) get pre-judged and mocked by those who don't even know us. It's basically because people are pig-ignorant and don't bother to do their research.

I think autism is sometimes misdiagnosed, or over diagnosed. Not every 'abnormal' behaviour is autism, and it's kind of rude to suggest that. I have a cousin with mild autism and they are not 'abnormal', they can function in life, though they trouble socialising.

I don't see the point really.

That's exactly what GR1138769 was saying in the first place. I have the condition quite severely, in that my social life is highly affected, as is my employability, and I meet all the criteria for it among other things (despite being degree educated), so I am annoyed more than anyone when I hear the term being flung around willy nilly.

Not sure who you're suggesting is being "rude" here by the way. I don't believed I ever personally used the term "ab-normal" and it is not a term I would use anyway (although many have used it to describe me). I know more than anyone the condition is on a spectrum and many people with mild autism can function fairly well in life. For me though that is not so much the case and I require a lot of support and it's difficult. But I'm not crying about it I'm telling it how it is.

I wrote a blog about this matter actually. Maybe you should try reading it. Walk a few miles in my shoes and see if you still want to think I don't know what I am talking about. You will never understand this condition. Not to mention the way you are treated like crap by all sorts of people who barely know you. Yeah it does make me angry. And why shouldn't it? Once I went on a work placement in Leicester and was perfectly decent and seemed to get on with everyone until someone said "oh, aspergers, ,they're retards right? You got a degree because anyone can get one because they're easy". I have received comments like this regularly. And this is from people who are much older than me. You will never understand. It sucks, it isn't a joke, I've been near suicide many times in my life and even today it's only because certain family members I don't want to disappoint that I choose not to kill myself. I am not joking. Nor am I trying to curry "sympathy" because I don't want people's pity. I honestly think having this condition brings out the ugly side of otherwise "decent" people and I've had enough of being treated like crap and misunderstood by judgemental idiots and NOBODY should have to have that.

By the way "dunno what to put here" GR1138769 wasn't talking about people like me misusing the term "autism" as your later post seems to imply, in fact he responded to my blog about autism, maybe you should read it.

People think I have it all the time even though I have no symptoms.

I don't see the point of announcing your sexuality on Facebook. I know this person very well and they don't seem gay. Maybe she's just one of these trendy lesbians. I know she's had frustration getting a boyfriend.

Looking for approval over social media I see. 16 likes and counting. Can't even write a funny comment or I will be accused of being anti-gay.
But then again, she already hates me, so what do I have to lose?

I doubt they're looking for approval - it's just a convenient way to let everyone know that they're gay, without having to tell everyone individually. Lesbians can look and act like straight girls - they're not all butch.

Yes, of course they can act like straight girls. I doesn't make sense why someone would want to have a boyfriend, then a couple months late tell everyone that they're a lesbian.

Today: "Hello friends and family. I am queer. That is all."

Last October: "For those of you that don't know my senior quote is "Guys, you're all going to wish you dated me in high school"

Just realized that I had written a seemingly misogynistic comment on the above post. That's it. No more Facebook for me. I prefer real life. Words are only half the message.
