you are really starting to sound like YANATOWA, "warm epoch"... please
Latest long range forecast is calling for an "off the charts" El Nino but I do have some doubts considering what happened last year. If this comes to fruition, our usual summer AM marine layer could be almost absent from our beach and we might get your wish of extended period of balmy nights, record setting heat, and a record setting number of summer thunderstorms days; a "whopping 3 or 4 days in the valley rather our usual 0.2 per summer (here in Mission Viejo), I know the deserts get more. However, the average winter high won't be 70 F, more like low to mid 60s with many days not breaking 60 F (like a typical L.A. winter rain). However, we might skip our usual spell or two of valley frosts due lack of dry cold that usually comes for a few days in December or January.

i hope it happens...

by the way typical winter rain events see high temps in 60s, not below 60.

but either way, ill be happy with both. if this happens summer temps will make up for the cooler winter. if it doesnt occur we will see a repeat of these last two winters.

Over the past week we've had days that maxed out in the LOW 60s and it's MAY. This whole week is forecast to remain below normal with highs fluctuating from low 60s to low 70s throughout the area.
Los Angeles, California (90001) Conditions & Forecast | Weather Underground
Most of the Northeast and even the upper Midwest is warmer than our warmest microclimates for this week.

L.A.-Mex, care to do the honors of digging up the "hottest (not so hot!) temperatures of the L.A. metro area of the past 8 days or did you lose interest in this thread during our this late spring "cold snap"?

and since ABrandNewWorld asked for last weeks highs ill give them to her in a nutshell, as the cold front passed mid last week the highest temps seen in the LA Area were in the low 70s, then the next days highs were mid 70s, then a warm spell hit and sent high temps in the area to the low 90s, it weakened and we are now seeing the warmest areas at low 80s, but starting tomorow temps will drop again to low 70s most likely, but dont worry ABrandNewWorld, i will keep you updated this next week, please forgive me for choosing to relax on my week of vacation rather than keep you updated...
