Finally got it all off this afternoon.

Tossed 15 lbs of rock salt on them before the storm came through and it kept the ice slushy under the snow so I got most of it off before it got too cold yesterday. I've already used up a normal years supply.

Bought another 100 lbs of ice melt plus two of those plastic spreaders for the cars. Tossed a bunch on the stubborn stuff and let it sit for a couple of hours. Took the ice scraper (like a flattened out hoe) to it and got the majority. One last covering of ice melt and it's good to go.

Having a north-facing sloped driveway sucks. Having Yaktrax is a life and bone saver.

Fire wood coming tomorrow...

My driveway also faces north. It's a battle when it snows to keep it clear. Is your driveway concrete? Does your concrete hold up well when you use rock salt?

The county snow plows plowed our cul-de-sac such that there were sizeable icebergs left in the path I typically use to back out of my driveway. Tomorrow is garbage day so the circle will be filled with county garbage cans. It's going to be quite a manuever to get out of my driveway to go to work tomorrow.

Concrete and rock salt don't mix well, but it's all I had left. Usually keep it in our trunks. Ran out of everything else already.

A cul de sac would be tough. I clean the street to my lot line in the direction the plows come. That allows the snow that has piled up in the blade up to dump before it gets to my drive. Every time I remember to do this I have little or no snow in the end of the drive. Like today! Everyone else had a big pile of frozen crud. Mine was clear.
