DX, I'm not from Atlanta, but I know exactly what you mean. Three fourths of the country can be 20 degrees below normal and they'll set their sites on the remaining 25% that is 5 degrees above average. Go figure.
I don't live in Atlanta but I get annoyed by the 'local' weather men at The Weather Channel there and how they constantly insist on giving me the live shots or local conditions in Atlanta when half the country can be in the grips of a major ice and snow storm...

yeah, like here in Georgia like 6 out of the 7 days of the week could be well below average, and they'll talk about that ONE day that it will be SLIGHTLY above normal and theyll get all hyped up about it.

That is because they want you to know how good we have it here in Atl so that you too will move here and we will run out of water even quicker and give the Weather Channel a really big story to run!

That's funny. Yes, it looks like Ga. and Ala., and Fl. are in quite a slump as far as water is concerned. Maybe it'll start giving you some rainy days this winter????
