San Francisco has the reputation for chilly, foggy summers but they do get occasional dry heat waves lasting a day or two or sometimes even longer. El Nino summers are more prone to heat waves. Do you think downtown San Francisco will reach or exceed 95 F (35 C) this summer?
Note: SF's warmest month is actually October but I'm defining summer as the traditional June-July-August.
I think it won't hit 95 F / 35 C by the end of August. I think it will be one of those years where it will top 95 in September or October from a Santa Ana wind.

Santa ana winds are usually only used to describe the weather pattern in socal where hot desert air blows to coastal areas but yeah.. I agree, i think sf will hit 95 only in september... The oceanic influence keeps it cool for much of early summer. Despite the fact that other parts of the bay such as san jose are forcasted to hit 97 tommorow, SF is predicted to stay in the low to mid 70s. I think San francisco will hit 90 more than once this summer but 95 is a stretch.
For the downtown station, 2008, 2009, and 2010 all jumped the gun with a 95F+ on 20 Jun, 28 Aug, and 24 Aug. And it appears that if 95F occurs in any given year, having it occur in October isn't that all uncommon. Another reason to despise this climate.
Not in summer. If it happens at all, it will in autumn.
