Be warned that NYC is a dump and smells absolutely awful. There's scaffolding everywhere and they don't seem to grasp that garbage cans might help mitigate the rat problem, yet they continue to leave bags of garbage everywhere. The subway system is a joke. That said, of course there are still a lot of great things to do an see there.

Washington DC is beautiful and much cleaner.

NYC and Washington seems kind of like Berlin and Munich to me.

The former is gritty, the latter is 'pristine', but the former is more interesting, while the latter is kind of sterile.

Well I will see if I go but I just want to go to see all the landmarks. I watched a video and it said about the subways and how if one kart is empty not to go in. Looking forward to DC it looks really nice.

I would not be too concerned about NYC. I was there with fairly young (pre-teen) kids earlier this year and took the subway and walked around all over the place until 1 am or later some nights. It's a big city for sure but nothing to be worried about really.

Just a saw a bunch of wild turkeys in the backyard. One day too early: they should come back tomorrow.

Bought a few beers but I can't be bothered to wait for them to get cold, so I am drinking one now warm. A sin of the highest measure, but it actually tastes quite nice, kind of smells a bit like marijuana as well.

They had a pack that was half price so it was in the reduced shelf at my local tesco express (presumably going out of date soon or something), got a pack of 14 bottles for £4.99 so I couldn't miss it
