NW Europe, NE Europe, Southern Central Europe, Central Europe, SW Europe, SE Europe and East Central Europe.
I would've drawn the line at 54N but it would look stupid.
Sorry, but I don't agree with much of that. I have several objections, but my biggest one is the inclusion of much of Turkey in the southeastern region of Europe. Turkey is not part of Europe. It occupies a small part of Europe... i.e., Thrace.

Did you not listen to me? I said i'd draw the line at 54N but it would look weird.

Everytime I see Hartford I think of Lois saying it. LOL

For the month of January, the mean deviation in highs is 3.9 °C here. So your variability is indeed higher than mine (but not by much). That 5.1 °C was only for the 6th. For July highs the average deviation is 3.7 °C.
I don't have data for the lows right now, will probably look for it later.

Er yes it is, i'm OVER 55N and Estonia is about 58N, hardly that much further north.
Anyway Scandinavia extends down to 55N so those who put it in Northern Europe are automatically putting the British Isles into Northern Western Europe as we extend up to 61N.
For western Europe, a good climate separator for between northern and southern Europe is by sunshine. Sunshine drops fast north of the Mediterranean. Maybe 1900-2000 hour is a good break? I think hot summers follow that as well.
Further east (say east of Croatia) there's more of a transition, so that's eastern Europe.

So there are random exclaves of southern Europe along the south coast of England and the Baltic coast. The mid point of Europe is at 53n, so anything above that is northern, anything below is southern. My favourite map so far was meteoflan's, a grid with 9 regions... NW, N, NE, WC, C, EC, SW, S, SE.

I love how Paris is both (or rather neither) SW Europe and Central Europe - I guess it must have to do with how different it feels from one arrondissement to another
