Yeah tipping is not required here, it's only really if you get great service..

I use that to my advantage, a couple came in late last night when we were not supposed to carry on serving but I intervened and said I'd take their table.. ended up getting a decent tip from them

I'd say so far about 30% of people have tipped me, it's ranged from about 3% - 15% of the bill.. 10% is about normal I believe though

Company in our house came round and tried to kick us out before 12.

We are leaving at 11 but they keep ringing us trying to kick us out. Mortified. Like we actually paid alot for this and rang up for a late check out.

I never tip, and you shouldn't do that here even, as the tipping is included in the waiters' salaries negotiated by the trade unions. So the correct rate in Finland is 0% of the note.

And as this is not a cash economy anymore, the waiter wouldn't see the tips in his/her wallet anyway.

This morning I ordered the simple dollar menu sandwich at McDonalds but they gave me the regular one with egg on it for the same price by accident. Successful day.

Tipping here is supposed to reward good service but at this point it's become nearly mandatory. I remember 10-15% were considered the norm for decent service, now it seems like the norm is to pay 20%. At this point tipping is for restaurants to make their prices appear lower. Add 8% or so sales tax to the bill for most states.
