Oh and I flew over your area and it is very green and under populated.

Idk it didn't look very populated. It looked like a dump.
I was expecting the suburbs to start like 50 miles outside NYC because of the UK but like 20 miles out it was the middle of nowhere.

The suburbs do start 50 miles outside of NYC, I'm not sure why you think they don't. 20 miles from NYC is still very built up. I think you're expecting the suburbs not look to green from above for some reason.

Because the houses looked like shacks. I would definitely not visit that area!!
