It has now rained over 5 inches in Phoenix this month. Not sure exactly how that ranks, but it must be one of their wettest months on record.
It's not the wettest month on record, but it will be the wettest September. 5.09 inches so far, previous record 4.23 in 1939. Very close to the all-time wettest month record, August 1951 with 5.56 inches.
Yeah, drier ground will make for colder feeling temps.
I think records are being broken for today already before 1pm.
Really, I would think the opposite; I thought drier ground means drier air just above the surface and drier air (like in desert climates) warms faster than more humid air I thought. The forecasts on TV always say on dry mornings this time of year that the dry air should help send temps up faster. Yestereday in NYC was near 80 F (I think), but the morning started below 55 F (I think).
