As of 9/28. NYC is having their 14th driest September on record (since 1871). Only 1.21" this month.

Providence 2nd driest (since 1905) only 0.64"!

Boston 6th driest (since 1872) with only 0.52"

Portland 12th driest (since 1881) with only 0.87"

At10AM it's already 69F at ORD, 72F at MDW and 71F here in my suburb. Beautifully sunny

Our local forecast a little more bullish than TWC's... Only 54F at ORD Saturday

I do like the dry pattern and hope it continues in the NYC area right through winter

Yeah, drier ground will make for colder feeling temps.

I think records are being broken for today already before 1pm.

It's not the wettest month on record, but it will be the wettest September. 5.09 inches so far, previous record 4.23 in 1939. Very close to the all-time wettest month record, August 1951 with 5.56 inches.

Really, I would think the opposite; I thought drier ground means drier air just above the surface and drier air (like in desert climates) warms faster than more humid air I thought. The forecasts on TV always say on dry mornings this time of year that the dry air should help send temps up faster. Yestereday in NYC was near 80 F (I think), but the morning started below 55 F (I think).

Current September rainfall total is 11mm. Might go up a but on Monday but besides that, it's looking like a rather dry month.
