Like June, it was a very average month temperature-wise. Very wet for Paris though, so I'm not complaining. Unfortunately, it was at the expense of the sun. The most notable thing imho was the 4-day long sub-20°C spell and the very dull first half of the month. As you can see on the following graphs, we didn't get much rain from it. Fortunately, a few days later, we got a spell of summery weather.
Rating: 3. I can't rate a wet month less than that, plus I really enjoyed the heat on the 18th. And I have to say that the cool spell at the beginning of the month was pretty "interesting".

The 1st arrondissement of Paris had an average high of 25.448°C, not much variance in temperature in Paris is there Or is the north of Paris quite cooler...

Other stations in Paris:
Paris - Montsouris (edge of city proper, in a park):
16.5 / 25.4°C
Lowest min 12.8°C
Highest max 35.8°C
98.2mm
191.3 hours

What station is this? I know Meteo France had a station in that arrondissement, but thought it was closed. Or is it amateur? The official Meteo France station for central Paris is located in the southern 14th arrondissement AFAIK. Normally city center locations are quite a bit warmer at night, but not that much during the day. I guess that this station averages significantly warmer than Orly at night?
July 2014 averages from various places in the UHI, SE suburbs to the city center:
Last station is amateur, so to take with a pinch of salt as it's not normalized. The guy is serious though, he's a meteorologist. Btw looks like Orly is the coolest of the bunch during the day, and the only not to have reached at least 35°C/95°F. Same thing last year, with a 34.9°C max. At least in 2012 every location reached at least 38°C/100°F.
Edit: dhdh beat me to it!

That's how I see it as well. Got quite chilly even indoors.

It allows you to check the daily weather for a previous day, I've got the average for the 1st arrondissement by typing '75001' then getting the daily data. It doesn't seem to be different arrondissement to arrondissement, so I'm not sure what station they were using. Check the site out, I'm not sure if it's accurate or not, you might know
I assume it's using the Paris-Montsouris weather station because they both have average high's more or less at 25.4C, no? or Paris-Sain-Germain? I could go day by day checking if the temperatures were the same between these locations and the station for the '1st arrondissement'

Yeah, that guys knows his craft. I trust his readings.
I have always regretted that there was not any equivalent in Nice - an official, or at least a serious amateur station in the city centre. Not only the airport station completely misses out on the UHI, it is also in a very peculiar location, both sitting on the sea and unprotected from the flow of northern cold air (unlike the city itself, which is precisely one of the unique aspects of central Nice's microclimate). I guess city averages would look closer to Monaco's, with perhaps higher highs.
Btw, I was in Paris for most of the month, but here's the summary for Nice:
Highest high: 28.8°C I have hardly ever seen a summer month not reaching 29°C in Nice. Even London did better. Even worse, that 28.8°C was a temporary morning foehn high in overcast conditions before a rainy day.
Sunshine: 320.9 hours - had the last day been overcast, it would've been a tie for the cloudiest July on record.
Overall a subpar July for Nice. Homies all complained from the frequent afternoon cloudiness - this may seem ridiculous but due to the sometimes very local nature of cloudiness, the city may have been cloudier than what the numbers suggest. At least judging by the daily angry facebook uploads of dark clouds*
*Yeah, I might be trying to make myself feel better about living in Paris as well.
