You should relocate to a hot country...
Not as cold as 2010 though, that was a serious anomaly, I can only just about handle our milder winters, but they are still too cold for me. Trust me I will be relocating to a hotter country when I leave university

I find forecasts more than a month out to be a bit pointless, you can only really tell the pattern from SSTs, MJO and other things, all we can do at the moment is hope

That is your typical El Nino pattern... That would just suck for me since I want a cold snowy winter.... However lets see if Bastardi is right about this upcoming winter. He is looking at SST analogs and the three winters he mentions below were all cold and snowy here.

Here's the Winter blend of those years I pulled together.. I want to check some more stuff out.. All I know is.. we've had a pattern for 10+ months now that would produce this... Will it last?!

Lets not forget Joe Bastardi 4 years ago.. We should all say ... "Hokey Smokey that guy was doing his Research" (6:00)

If this anomounsly warm SST over the North Pacific continues into next winter, it would favor a ridge over the PNW and BC and thus warmer than normal temps. In turn that could mean troughing down stream for us...

Also take a look at equatorial SST's. Doesn't look very El Nino- like right now to me, but I guess it may be just getting started.

Huge difference from the Super Nino of 97'. Here is what that looked like in Sep 1997

Well personally I would love a repeat of 2012/2013 was was not particularly cold but very snowy, but I wouldn't mind something like February 2008 which was dry, very sunny and with lots of frost & freezing fog. 2013 was a good year in general with a cold, snowy winter and warm summer. As close as we will ever get to real four seasons.

I want another 2012 winter, I'd like to be able to wear a t-shirt outside in January.

Hmm.. for those cold lovers here who want snow and cold this winter.. would you mind if there was a freak month which averaged 20C max temps?
