Depending on the strength of that SE ridge (which I don't see strong yet, way too soon) the Northeast will stay seasonably chilly with this setup. Not well below but slightly below normal.

Southeast going to get very warm with widespread 70s & 80s with this setup

If that ridge does get stronger, perhaps there's a possibility of a sudden big jump in temperatures?

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of.

Looks like today and tomorrow will be winter's last hurrah down here. Our average high is already pushing sixty, and with that ever-increasing sun angle down here at 34 degrees latitude, it won't take much to get warm with any sort of ridge south of us.

But what a February it's been!

P.S. 31 degrees right now with a solid overcast. Here's to hoping that temps don't rise too much before the precip arrives. Looks like it's about 4-5 hours away from Atlanta.

Definitely.

Notice we're still in the 540s and 550s Dam on the 500mb heights. That's still chilly. We been in the 520s and dipped to 500s lately!
580+ is big Heat. 570s is warm.
Consensus right now says temps in 30s/40s is maxing it next week north of Philly..

That's crazy to hear. Normal max in the 60s and winter storm warnings out.

Will NAM be right? 24hr snowfall total. 12"+ North Carolina & Virginia

Thanks! That's awesome.

Winter Storm Warnings today during the day in areas where the normal max temps are in the 60s . Warnings extend from Texas to Virginia where the snow storm will hit this evening and overnight.

That map would be a HUGE downer for me - one lousy inch for my backyard. Should I go ahead and write this one off as the "one that got away?"

There's a reason why our annual snowfall average is only 2 inches...

Forecast low tonight is 71F.

That'll break the record warmest Feb minimum of 69F.

How old is your station? This seems to be happening every month.

Haha, yeah it does happen often. It's only 13 years old. A lot of the time these things are forecast incorrectly and the low doesn't even come close to what they say.

It's so opposite of here, last Friday we were 3F shy of the all-time record low.

We were only 2F higher than the February record low last week, but again, not very impressive considering the short period of record.
