October to May so eight months. However we only had one single freeze sofar in a May (since 1949), even though the record low of this month (-1.1°C/ 30°F) is well below zero.
Every month of the year. They don't call Saskatoon a hemiboreal climate for nothing. It is also why the commonly held belief that Saskatoon has "hot summers" is mistaken. No place with hot summers can reasonably be expected to have record lows below freezing in June, July and August. When I think of a hot summer, I think of places like North Carolina or Georgia.
We have mild summers with occasional hot days, mild to cool nights, and rarely, frosts.
On average, June frosts occur once every five years. August frosts once every 10-15 years, and July frosts even more rarely (although nights close to the freezing point are way more common). The last July frost in the metropolitan area was on July 30, 2004.
Frosts in the remaining 9 months of the year occur practically every year. There are some extremely rare years when September does not record a frost.
