November 30. Unlikely, yet possible.

Gosh this is a good question, lol
I'm so used to the freezing temps in Winter
that I usually don't even pay attention to the actual temps-
They don't faze me.......
Until they're like -40

I'll take a guess, though & say right around Dec. 22.....

Mid to late November is when daily average temperature drops below freezing. All it takes at that point is a slightly colder than normal day.

I accidentally clicked on the "I won't see a high below 10C this winter"... That's actually wrong, there should be a "I wont see a high below 0C this winter." As that is more accurate for Portsmouth... The lowest high of the winter will probably be an extremely freezing, polar like 4 or 5 degrees C (above freezing) or something... I predict no snow for at least another decade!

It is hard to predict such things, overall winter weather is here more unpredictable than other seasons.Roughly speaking on last decade of November, if to try to be more exact I think l'll go with St Catherine's day, that is 25 November.

London does average slightly more than one ice day per year (Heathrow data).
