NWS Cleveland Ohio getting funny in their forecast.

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CLEVELAND OH
132 PM EDT SAT OCT 4 2014

.SYNOPSIS...
LOW PRESSURE WILL REMAIN NEARLY STATIONARY OVER CENTRAL ONTARIO
CANADA THROUGH THURSDAY. A TROUGH EXTENDING SOUTH FROM THE LOW WILL
MOVE EAST ACROSS THE AREA THIS AFTERNOON. ANOTHER TROUGH WILL MOVE
EAST ACROSS THE AREA SUNDAY NIGHT. THE LOW WILL FINALLY PULL OUT OF
THE AREA BY THE END OF THE WEEK. MUCH COOLER AIR WILL BE USHERED
INTO THE REGION THROUGH MID WEEK.

.SHORT TERM /6 PM THIS EVENING THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT/...UPPER LEVEL PATTERN MORE INDICATIVE OF WINTER RATHER THAN EARLY FALL. DEEP DIGGING UPPER LEVEL TROUGH WILL REMAIN WITH US THROUGH MID WEEK AND THEN BEGIN TO LIFT NORTHEAST AND OUT OF THE REGION BY WEEKS END. THE UPPER LEVEL LOW OVER THE HUDSON BAY WILL MOVE LITTLE AS WELL.

TEMPERATURES OVERNIGHT WILL BE QUITE CHILLY BUT WITH CLOUD COVER AND WINDS REMAINING UP...THIS SHOULD PROTECT US FROM GETTING TERRIBLY COLD. WITH 850 MB TEMPERATURES DROPPING TO AROUND 0 DEGREES C BY SUNDAY...POTENTIAL EXISTS FOR LOWS TO DROP INTO THE 30S OVERNIGHT TONIGHT.

I HATE TO SAY IT BUT I CANT RULE OUT THE POSSIBILITY OF A FEW WET SNOW FLAKES MIXING IN WITH THE RAIN TONIGHT...ESPECIALLY IN THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS IN THE EAST. IN OTHER WORDS...I LIKE TO CALL THEM SLUSH BALLS WHEN THEY SPLAT ON THE WINDSHIELD.

It's October 4th , I hope nobody expected to see cars buried in snow. Even flakes falling is special this time of year and doesn't happen. In fact it's the earliest many areas seen flakes!

NWS Chicago, IL:

"Chicago has reported light snow! This is the 3rd earliest snowfall on record dating back to 1884. Earliest date is Sept 25 in 1928 & 1942"

"Rockford has reported light snow! This is the 2nd earliest snowfall on record dating back to 1905, just after Oct 3 1951 http://ow.ly/Ch3sU

NWS Lincoln, IL:

"Flurries occurring in parts of #Peoria. 1st recorded occurrence of snow on Oct. 4 there. 2nd earliest snow on record!"

NWS Lacrosse:

"Check out overnight snow totals across Wisconsin. Highest amounts fell from northwest into north-central WI "

Oct 4, 2014 is in the history books

And Eu Claire records date back to 1800s. Impressive. So they never had snow accumulating this early.

Warnings up for Manitoba.

Snowfall, with total amounts of 15 to 25 cm continues.

An intense low pressure system in northern Ontario will continue to bring widespread snow to northern Manitoba today through Monday. As of noon today, Gillam has received 19 cm of new snow with another 5 cm of snow expected before temperatures rise above freezing later today.

The system will continue to track slowly westward and the Tadoule Lake, Thompson and Lynn Lake areas can expect to see heavier snow begin this afternoon lasting into Monday with total amounts in the 15-25 cm range. Reduced visibilities in snow and blowing snow are also likely as winds gust to 60 km/h. In addition, many areas can also expect to see periods of freezing drizzle between more intense bands of snow as temperatures continue to hover near the freezing mark.
