I don't like the Southern Hemisphere in general for this reason. Any place with reliable summer warmth is also too warm in winter, while any place with good winter cold can get chilly at any time of year. I like my seasons to be distinct and wide apart in temperature patterns.
Even places like Johannesburg and Melbourne have record lows in summer that are pretty cold for their relatively low latitude.

Over the past month or so, Auckland has recorded minimums/maximums quite similar to Sydney with the minimum not dropping below 18C for nearly a month now and maximums around 25-28C everyday...
