It is well established that the early 1930s was the greatest drought in the past 1000 years, so it's highly likely most of us have been getting wetter since then.

I don't know if I'm the only one, but I've noticed a slow drying trend over the 20 years, which is counter to what the models predicted. My question is, how far back do you have to go where you live to have no wetting trend?

All seasons aren't equal around here. The early 1930s were the driest, but January, February, August, and December have been getting drier since that time. That only leaves 8 of the months that are getting wetter.

Here's back can you go in Kamloops, BC without getting wetter:

Jan = 1896 (beginning of records)
Feb = 1896 (beginning of records)
Mar = 1994
Apr = 1969
May = 2009
Jun = 1923
Jul = 1961
Aug = 1895 (beginning of records)
Sep = 1954
Oct = 1918
Nov = 1896
Dec = 1900

YEAR = 1959
WINTER = 1896 (beginning of records)
SPRING = 2010
SUMMER = 1941
FALL = 1973

It seems to me from the graphs that Chicago has not been getting wetter over the past 30 years. What about the other seasons?

Here is my data. As you can see winter has been getting drier for a very long time. Notice that Winter and Summer were pretty much in lock with each other until the 1950s.

On an annual basis over the past 30 years we plateaued. Our summers are getting wetter, but we are drying out in other seasons. I was looking at long term precip trends.

Interesting. I wonder if it has anything to do with the Pacific Decadal Oscillation have anything to do with it?

As for the drought of 1934. Check out the heatwave MDW had that July
