Which of the past five January's in my location would you prefer?

2010, 2011, & 2014 were cooler than average. 2012 & 2013 were warmer than average.

I choose 2014 because it had snow (according to NWS, a total of 4.5 inches). The snowfall totals don't appear on the Weatherunderground calendars.

Definitely not 2010 and 2014, ice days shouldn't happen at such low latitudes/elevation

2014 was a good one, 2012 far from it.

Yeah, it can snow but it's pretty rare. We've been lucky in recent years.

Alexandria had accumulating snow in Dec 2009, Feb 2010, and twice in Jan 2014.

Before that, there was a long snow drought for Alexandria. There was no accumulating snow measured between Jan 1985 and Dec 2009. There was ice and sleet during the period, however. On average, snow accumulation is supposed to occur every 4-5 years (going by 1895-2010 averages).

I saw accumulating snow in Ruston (the northern part of the state) in March 2008.
