I also heard the term ice day for the first time here on C-D. I've read one single publication from the FMI where that term translated to Finnish was used.

Since this winter is supposed to be cooler than average, I'll go with 4. The average is 2.7, but about 25% of winters have none.

Hmmm, I guess I just missed out on an ice day tomorrow haven't I? By 1 degree Prognos Örebro | SMHI

Even Friday can't be counted as an ice day right?

None here (if we are talking about highs below 0 C). Mabye one if we get very lucky. That's 20 below average. In CNJ, perhaps around a month.

January in ATL: Average high 11 C, Average low 2 C
January in CNJ: Average high 3 C, Average low -7 C.

Technically it was 1C at midnight, but after that we did not reach freezing all day.
