Both climates have similar average temperatures, but one is much wetter than the other in the summer. Sacramento has slightly less seasonal variation and significantly more summer diurnal variation. Sacramento is also slightly warmer year round.

Sacramento easily... way sunnier and drier summers plus warmer record lows in winter.

Sactown FTW. Raleigh is colder in winter.

North Carolina anytime over inland California, therefore my vote is Raleigh.

Raleigh, easy to beat a Mediterranean climate with constant summer drought.

I've lived in both and prefer Sacto climate due to lower humidity makes summer evenings more pleasant and winters aren't as cold either. Still, Raleigh has one of the better Eastern USA climates.

I prefer Raleigh winters (and it's already very sunny IMO), but constant humidity could be annoying in the long term....
