Better break out your shorts - time to say bye-bye to winter...lol. Winter sure doesn't last long down here, huh? (sniff, sniff)

That's 4 times this month getting above 85°F. Most since 2002. Still half month left.

Most was 11 days in March 1935

1977 went above 85°F 7 times in March

High was 16C//60F at ORD, 17C/62F at MDW, and 11C/52F at Northerly Island in Chicago today under sunny skies. My suburb reached 59F/15C

A good summary by Joe Bastardi of the up coming pattern which he believes will turn colder than normal again from later March to early April He also goes on to say that the persistent eastern trough will retrograde into the west by late April building a ridge in the eastern US, and he expects a very active tornado season for the Midwest (similar to 2011).

Saturday Summary March 14, 2015

I just want a summer similar to 2011. Maybe that's a good sign.

I'll take 2011...... Wasn't fantastic (June and August just about normal, July was above normal), but we had some good storms, and it was way better than 2013 and 2014 that's for damn sure.

Halfway through the month and we have not once gone below the average low for March.

Even after 1" of rain, thick fog, and all the 40s, I still have 7" on the ground. Drifts and piles higher of course. This is NUTS!

Sikorsky airport (at the CT coast) with 5" still on ground! Another 9 days they break the record for longest snowcover streak. This is the latest with a streak this long. We basically have January snow on the ground still.

Im near the NY border.
