Default California storm

How is the rest of you in California doing? Here in San Luis Obispo county we are getting wind gusts up to 60mph in some areas. We had some sun shades out on our deck and I asked the hubby yesterday if we should take them down.... he said, nah, they'll be fine... we just got back in the house totally drenched after rescuing them and before they could smash one of our picture windows with the metal attachments. It's great to see all the rain! Our lake here is at 28% so hopefully we will have a great summer with a full lake if we get a few more of these storms.

I know, the rest of the country is probably rolling their eyes at me, but this is exciting stuff for California!!

You must really be having storms in certain areas out there. They didn't even air Storm Stories for an hour this afternoon so they could focus on the Cali storms.

Oh, and I need to correct something I said in another thread~this part of the storm will definitely bring snow to Idaho.

So is this storm Number two with one more on the way?

We had awful storms up here in Sacramento, been without power for about six hours today. Very heavy rains, at least a couple of inches, and a driving gusting wind, likely with gust over 50 MPH.

Storm began around 5 AM, and the TV (which has just gone on) is reporting that wind gusts had hit over 60 MPH. Sustained winds for about a 4-5 hour period was about 25-30 MPH. Blizzard conditions existed for a time in the Sierra Mts, about an hour east of Sacramento. Snow depth isn't too bad in the Sierra, they have been getting a mix of rain and snow.

It's sprinkling here in L.A. County now. The heaviest rain is supposed to hit late tonight. We're just getting the tail end of this storm, though. *phew*

Rain just started a few minutes ago in Orange County. I commute to work by bicycle, and I was relieved that I got a break and the rain held off till after I got home. I had my rain jacket with me just in case. We have had only 5 to 6 inches of rain in the last 18 months in my area, so any good rainstorm will be a welcome thing as long as it doesn't cause massive mudslides in the burned out hills near my place.

That storm is coming to Utah now. We had wind gusts at 85 MPH in the canyon above me.

The worst has passed over us here now. We had recorded 75mph of wind in Morro Bay from the Coast Guard and an unofficial total of 4.5 inches of rain near Cambria from this morning. WOW! Our house backs up to a greenbelt (we live in a very rural area) and it is a huge mud field as far as the eye can see. Anyway, was an exciting day here and we got some much needed rain. It will probably be beautiful tomorrow, all the dust has been washed off the trees and the birdies will be back at the feeders.
