Last night we had the first rainfall after 20 rainless days: it was a thunderstorm, well not, it was a monsoon! It was scary, with 60 mm and impressive showers.
Like 2014, this year is going to be again hugely wetter than average due to these periodical, crazy tropical monsoons we now get every single month

Is that your personal weather station or an official one? That is a very large diurnal range there.
My home one. The official site reached -2.9C and 12.9C. I only use the official station after the event, as they don't have live feeds. It's also over 20km away, plus three valleys over. Where I was working yesterday (about 30 km away) , still had -4C on the thermometer at about 10.00am.
Moderately high diurnal range is a feature of my climate and other regions in NZ. 15C for a whole winter month is a big average here, but I don't think I've seen a month below 10C. Other regions can see months with a 21C average. My area is unusual for having a combination of reasonably large diurnal range and rainfall totals. I don't think anywhere in the world can match it for a coastal location. It's a climate that warms quickly, cools quickly and rains hard.

-1C/30F, Forecast high of 15C/59F
100% RH
Clear and a slight breeze
-I expect that the official site will have a colder minimum this morning.
